Would you believe: Ozzy and Me?

When I think about it, I smile a little, Ozzy was so cool and polite.

I guess it was somewhere around 1982, on a boat, between Vancouver Island and Vancouver City. I noticed four or five guys in the front row looking out at a cool breezy day on the water. I had no idea who they were, only that they looked a bit like trouble (you know, long hair, tats, makeup, leather) I have to say, I'm laughing as I recall that day. One of them got up from his seat and looked around, I was the only person sharing an area for (maybe) 100.
Of course he started back to where I was, I still had no clue, he had dark blonde hair, and eye makeup. When he got to me, he smiled, and politely asked, "Do you have a light, mate". I gave him a pack of matches, and he said "Thanks mate, I'll bring them back"I replied, "No problem, keep 'em, I have a lighter". I asked "You know you have to smoke outside?" Ozzy replied, "Oh, ok"

And that would be the end of the story, I still didn't know who he was, except.............I went for a walk on deck, 15 minutes later. I noticed Ozzy and his band, huddled behind a bulkhead, obviously very cold.

And then, I smiled, I realized who the man was, Ozzy Osbourne and also, I should have given him my lighter, I have no doubt he would have returned it.
Finally, because I'm Canadian, and Canadians are known for saying "sorry". I wish like hell I had given up my lighter to you Ozzy, and I'm sorry mate.
